Joanne S. Holets, 74, of Cedar Rapids died Wednesday September 28, 2016 at University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. Services at 11:00 AM on Monday October 10th at First Lutheran Church. Rev. Leroy Bradway will officiate. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Douglas; one daughter Kathryn (Ed) Ponder; three sons Leonard (Linda), Michael (Kelley) and David (Rita); two brothers Richard (Ann) Carlson and Doug Carlson. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Joanne was born on October 26, 1941 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the daughter of Hugo and Sylvia Haugan Carlson. She married Douglas K. Holets on April 17, 1971 in Cedar Rapids. 

Joanne was an administrative assistant at Rockwell-Collins for over 30 years retiring in 1997. 

Joanne was a faithful member of First Lutheran Church for over 49 years. She enjoyed gardening, genealogy, and helping her husband Doug with the Monarch Butterfly Project. Joanne especially enjoyed the time spent with her beloved family and many friends. She will be greatly missed and her memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
