John H. Smalley, 58, of Belle Plaine died Friday November 11, 2016 at St. Luke’s Hospital. Memorial services at 11:00 AM on Tuesday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include a sister, Angela (Roy) Callahan, and eight brothers; Ben (Mary), Mark (Janet), Nelson (Chris), Matt (Dana), Frank (Julie), Steve (Brooke), Adam (Ginny), Paul (Chris), and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
John was born on February 2, 1958 in Richwood, West Virginia the son of Howard and Tressie Smalley. He worked in construction in the Linn County area for several years.
John enjoyed the outdoors; hunting, fishing, and watching TV. He was a loyal fan of the West Virginia Mountaineers, and had served in the Army. John was a wonderful son, brother and uncle who will be greatly missed.
A memorial fund has been established in John’s name.
