Earl was born February 4, 1933 in Cedar Rapids to William and Stella (Dusek) Ceynar.  After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving honorably with the 718th Strategic Reconnaissance Squadron, Ellisworth AFB, Rapid City, SD and at Anderson AFB in Guam, during the Korea War, as a Crew Chief on the RB36.   He was united in marriage to Lois Garner on August 19, 1959 in Iowa City.

As a civilian Earl, was a Fire Fighter and EMT-D for 38 years, auxiliary police officer, armored car driver, mechanic, dairy farmer, taxi driver and held licenses as a commercial helicopter and aircraft pilot.  Most importantly he was a husband, a father, a friend of many, and a man of faith and duty who did his job tirelessly, selflessly.
