Donald J. Walters, 69, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at St. Luke’s Hospital.

Mass of the Resurrection will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 5, 2015 at St. Jude Catholic Church.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.  Interment with military honors will take place at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Donald was born October 22, 1946 in Waukon, Iowa to Leon and Dorothy (Lloyd) Walters.  After graduating high school, Donald served with the United States Army Reserves during the Vietnam War.  He was united in marriage to Donna Nadine Horn on October 30, 1993 in Cedar Rapids.

He worked as a project manager with Pearson Wall Systems.

He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and boating.  He loved to travel and go RV-ing, and he especially treasured the time he spent with his family.

Donald is survived by his wife Donna; six children: Brian Walters of Cedar Rapids, Christie Hoffman (David) of Hiawatha, Shawn Hoffman of Marion, Jeff Hoffman of Creston, Kim Hoffman of Monticello, and Amy Hoffman of Lebanon, Missouri; fifteen grandchildren; many loving great-grandchildren; brother Dale Walters of Newhall; sister Peggy Pugmire of Cedar Rapids; several nieces, nephews, and dear friends; as well as special dogs Daisy and Sasha.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; daughter-in-law Karleene Walters; and one niece.
