Frances E. "Francie” Cohn, 94 of Rancho Mirage, California formerly of Cedar Rapids died Thursday July 10, 2014 at the Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage, California.

Services at 10:00 AM on Sunday at Temple Judah. Rabbi Todd Thalblum will officiate. Burial at Eben Israel Cemetery.

Survivor include a brother, Gary (Loretta) Rabiner of Cincinnati, Ohio and Boca Raton Florida; a sister Norma (Robert) Segal of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Arizona. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews how adored Francie to include a special and devoted niece Carolyn Rabiner of New York. She was preceded in death by her husband Samuel and a brother Al Rabiner.

Francie was born on October 18, 1919 in Ft. Dodge, the daughter of Samuel and Daisy Lumelsky Rabiner. She married Samuel Cohn on November 30, 1941 in Cedar Rapids. Sam passed away in 1995.  

“Francie was an ambassador of the Cohn dynasty which had a major footprint in philanthropy and community leadership in Cedar Rapids, such as Mercy Hospital, St. Lukes Hospital, Temple Judah, Linn County Cancer Society, Coe College, the University of Iowa Alumni Association as well as the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts”.

 The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Robert Dluhy of Boston, Dr. Joel Hirschberg of Palm Springs, Dr. Robert Silber of Cedar Rapids and her devoted caregivers Natalie and Helen for the wonderful and loving care given to Francie.
