Lavonne Hamilton, 84, of 1800 Chandler Street SW died
Wednesday October 19, 2011 after a long illness. Services at 11:00 AM on Thursday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Rev. Jim Goodrich will officiate. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 7 PM on Wednesday.

Survivors include her husband, James, two sons, Thomas (Maria) of Cedar Rapids and Mark (Karen) of Albuquerque of New Mexico; two brothers, Bill (Carol) Garrett, Dick (Ann) Garrett and two sisters, Wanda Lear and Shirley (Bob) Morgan. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Joshua, David, Rachel, Ben, Jim, Michael and Sam. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a daughter, Geri Feltz.

Lavonne was born on June 4, 1927 in South English, the daughter of Roe and Cuma Neilson Garrett. She married James M. Hamilton on April 17, 1949 in Marion. Lavonne was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church-Church of the Brethren later the Church on Northland. She also was a member of the Dorcas Circle and enjoyed working with the group making quilts for charity.

Lavonne loved a sunny day with the birds singing, spending time with family, quilting and crocheting. She was a joy to her family and friends and will be greatly missed and remembered with love.
