Larry Allen Hopp, Age 76, of Cedar Rapids, IA, passed away at Cottage Grove Place in Cedar Rapids, IA on Thursday, June 25, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
A memorial visitation will be held at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, from 4 to 7 PM.
Larry was born on January 15, 1950, in Cedar Rapids, IA. He was the son of the late Willard Carl and Ann Louise (Giese) Hopp. Larry served in the US Army where he was stationed in South Korea. On May 11, 1974, Larry married the love of his life, Yvonne Erceg, in Cedar Rapids, IA. He worked as a mail clerk at the Post Office for many years before his retirement. He loved watching his grandchildren play sports, was an avid Iowa Hawkeye Fan and a loyal Prairie High School Football fan.
Those left to cherish Larry’s memory are his wife, Yvonne of Cedar Rapids, IA; his children, Chad Hopp, of Eagan, Minnesota, and Sara (Michael) Mecklenburg, of Marion, IA; his grandchildren, Abby, Brody, and Kaitlyn Mecklenburg; his sister, Linda (Lawson “Skip”) Clark, of Mt. Vernon, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Richard Peterson.
Larry will be cherished by his wife, son, daughter, grandchildren, nieces, nephew, cousins, and an aunt.
Memorial contributions may be made in his name to Cottage Grove Place and/or Hospice of Mercy.
