Rod Jones, 58, passed away at his home in Marion on September 9, 2025. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, September 12, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel Stateroom. A funeral service will be held 3 p.m., Saturday, September 13 at Cornerstone Church, Marion.
Rod is survived by his wife of 32 years, Tari; daughter, Madison (Jesse) Jones; brother, Randy (Cherie) Jones; half-brother, John (Michelle) Houck; sister-in-law, Christina (Steven) Frick; mother-in-law, Elaine Adkison; lifelong friend, Ed Sanks; uncle, cousin and friend to many. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Velma Jones; half-brothers, Greg White, Joe Anderson, Jim Jones, Wayne Houck, Mike Houck; and father-in-law, Timothy Adkison.
Rod grew up in Palo and was a 1985 graduate of Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids. Rod was a lifelong diehard Kansas City Chiefs fan, loved being outside, was a great storyteller, and was known for always wearing his hat with a fishhook on the bill. He said people were friends he was waiting to meet. He loved his family and their annual vacations to Minnesota.
