So many fond memories! We have all lost a good one in Lew! It will be a blink of an eye, and we will be reunited with Jesus forever. So thankful Lew had a firm faith in Jesus Christ.

It was an honor to have known Lew. I was on his High School Advisory Board when I attended Washington High School. It was so special to get to meet with him once a month to discuss how everything was going in the high schools! He had such a warm and calm spirit! I felt so special when he stopped by our high school graduation party and gave me a small clock and a card. He really made an impact on my life! He will be greatly missed!

My sincere condolences to his family and close friends. Lew hired me as an administrator in Anoka-Hennepin and I will always be indebted to him for that wonderful opportunity. He was a state education leader in Minnesota and a terrific person to work for - a very supportive and caring individual. He is still talked about fondly among colleagues and friends here in Minnesota. May he rest in peace and blessings to his family.

My husband and I got to know Lew through walking our dog by his condo. His friendly, outgoing personality led us from simple conversations about the weather to education to vacations to family. He encouraged us as a young professionals. We are grateful to have swapped fish tales at his annual fish fry and to maintain our relationship through Christmas letters even after we both moved to new neighborhoods. Lew always lit up when talking about his family and the fishing trips they shared together. He will be greatly missed and smiling down on you the next time you real in a big one.

I remember meeting Dr. Finch at Washington High School graduation in 2002 and shaking his hand ✋️. He was very polite and caring about everyone in the community.

Lew was good for Cedar Rapids and everyone who was associated with the school district during his tenure. I was pleased he decided to retire here and often would see him driving around town with a personalized plate that said LWF II (or something close to that). His presence was always encouraing.
