John Christopher Chow passed away peacefully on November 20, 2024. Funeral services will take place December 16, 2024, at Cedar Memorial Funeral home. There will be a visitation from 9:00 A.M-11:00 A.M, with the funeral and graveside service directly following.
John was the son of Frank and Betty Chow and was born on May 23, 1969, in Los Angeles, California. He is survived by his older siblings: Robert Chow, Christina Chow-Gove, Maria Chow-Kakazu, Mark Chow, and Barbara Chow Yerke. John was never married and had no children.
John was a cancer survivor, diagnosed at the age of 11 months. The experimental treatment he received took a heavy and lasting toll on him. Given only a 5% chance of survival he beat the odds and lived with never-ending grace and dignity.
His greatest pleasure was spending time with his family, who knew him as UJ (Uncle John). He loved nothing more than to be around his siblings and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Holidays and birthdays were eagerly awaited in anticipation of another family get together. Even though it was difficult for him to get around, he never failed to arrive carrying a card or present.
John grew up playing golf with his father. He was an ardent fan with an encyclopedic knowledge of the sport. He also was certain to never miss a Lakers or Dodgers telecast.
Peace Christian Reformed Church was John’s extended family. He so enjoyed going to Sunday service and the gathering that followed. He truly loved all his Christian brothers and sisters.
