Richard M. Quetsch, M.D., 97, of Cedar Rapids, died February 19, 2024 at Cottage Grove Place. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 27 at All Saints Catholic Church. Rev. Jack Flaherty will officiate.   Visitation will be at All Saints from 9:00 a.m. until mass time.  Inurnment will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Surviving are his children, Mary Hansen and her husband Tom of Cedar Rapids, Kathleen (Kathy) Edwards and her husband Tom of Eau Claire, WI, Joseph Quetsch and wife Mary Manulik of Columbia, MO and his grandchildren Conor, Sheala, and Patrick Hansen, Kate and Brian Edwards, Matthew, Timothy and Elizabeth Quetsch, Shaun and Heather Bales, and Joseph Quetsch Bales.
  
He was preceded in death by Frances, his wife of 62 years, his daughter Molly Quetsch-Bales, and his son John Richard Quetsch. 

Richard was born February 9, 1927 in Oak Park, IL the son of Gertrude (Shea) and Leonard Quetsch.  He graduated from the University of Michigan and Loyola University Medical School.  He served as a physician in the U.S. Army and did his residency in internal medicine at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.  In 1959, he joined Medical Associates in Cedar Rapids, IA.  He served as President of the Linn County Medical Society, was an active contributor to the Cedar Rapids Symphony Orchestra.  He made a difference in the lives of many of his patients and co-workers.  He had an adventurous spirit and enjoyed backpacking/canoeing in the Boundary Waters, taking his family to Expo 67, to Colorado for skiing and hiking, and many other adventures.  With his wife, Fran, he traveled to China, Africa, Europe, the Caribbean and hiked the Grand Canyon from both the North and the South Rim. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Richard’s honor may be made to All Saints Catholic Church or to Four Oaks Family and Children’s Services.
