This is very sad news. Herb was such a special person - deep faith and great communicator with a wickedly wonderful sense of humor. It's hard for us to imagine Cedar Rapids without him but surely so much harder for Judy and their family. Our deepest sympathy to you all.

Unfortunately I have set commitments next Friday out of town or I would be here. I was just thinking of Herb a couple weeks ago and was thinking I should look him up but then hesitated. Every time I think of Herb I think of what a good sport he was. He dressed up for my wedding to Ben and truly celebrated with us. He was able to balance a little sidewise look and laugh with his common sense no nonsense advice. He was the reason I was winning to have our kids raised at WPC and him leaving was ones of the reasons it became hard to stay. He wouldn't have liked that as he always picked the right priorities. His messages on Sunday were intellectual but accessible for all. There was something for everyone. Peace to his family and thank you for sharing him with all of us all those years.

We moved to Cedar Rapids from Arizona in 1997. Westminster became our spiritual home. Pastor Isenberg was A big part of our reason for choosing to worship there. I was on several committees and had numerous interactions with him over the course of a number of years, He was always practical witty and wise. His memory will be cherished.
