While it has been many years since we last saw her, Irene was among our very best friends as well as a distant relative to Clara, who spent many happy hight school and other hours with this precious lady. When we married, it was Irene who held a fun and beautiful bridal shower for me and later served as my bridesmaid. Visits after that were few and far between as we no longer lived in the same area. However, we always kept in touch until she moved to Mt. Pleasant where I soon lost track of her because she no longer replied to my attempts to do so. I knew she had developed memory problems but did not realize they had progressed to Alzheimers. Of course she could not answer my attempts to keep in touch. I shall miss this dear friend but she will forever remain in my memories and in my heart. Ironically, she passed away on the very day of our 75th wedding anniversary.

I was recently informed that one of my favorite teachers, Mrs. Thompson passed away. I have often thought of her as I recall my grade school years at Coggon Elementary School. Mrs. Thompson was so wonderful and patient with a class full of busy, active students. I know that I am not alone in recalling so many fond memories of this wonderful teacher. I hope your memories bring you great comfort and solace. Mrs. Thompson meant the world to me and I will cherish my memories of this sweet, gentle lady.
