Gerald V. Hart, 64, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday November 23, 2023, in Mercy Medical Center. Services: 11:00 a.m. Thursday November 30, 2023, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, where a visitation will begin at 10 am. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Christine, his children, Candace (Ryan) Warner of San Jose, California, Zachary Hart of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, his grandchildren, Lucas, Anna and Howard Warner, his siblings, Sherrel (Walter) Plank of Texas, Carole (Gary) Anderson of Burlington, Iowa and Laurel (Pete) Nash of Burlington, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Gerald was born July 31, 1959, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Alva and Pearl (Eveland) Hart. He married Christine Kohl on December 31, 1980, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Gerald was a custodian for Linn County facilities. He enjoyed hiking, motorcycles, football, going fishing, playing cards and scrabble. He also enjoyed bonfires with friends. His love for the outdoors brought him to Yellowstone National Park being one with nature. He would have been a great tour guide with his knowledge and guidance of places visited. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
