Memorial
On the 21st of June 2023, James Joseph Zieser of Marion, beloved husband, dad, and grandpa passed away at the age of 85.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM on Friday, June 30, 2023, at the Antioch Christian Church in Marion, Iowa. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 AM, at the church. A luncheon will follow the church service.
Jim was born on July 3, 1937, near Walker, Iowa, the son of Joseph and Martha (Haxmeier) Zieser. Jim graduated from St. Patrick's High School in Ryan, Iowa. Following graduation, he served with the United States Army from 1961 to 1962 and was stationed in Germany. He met Mary Jane Denner at the Armar Ballroom, they were married May 27, 1967, in Lawler, Iowa. Jim worked at Cedarapids Inc. for 36 1/2 years, retiring in 2002. He enjoyed gardening and woodworking.
Jim is survived by his wife, Mary Jane; a daughter, Jennifer (Allan); two sons, Aaron (Ann) and Stuart (Esther); grandchildren, Kaitlin (Cameron), Parker, Abigail, Hannah, Zachary, Natalie, and Emily; brothers, Francis John (Pat), Ken (Rose), Martin (Judy), and Bill (Ilene); sisters, Sr. Dolores, Rosalyn Zieser, Kathleen Callan, Jan Hildebrand (Paul), and Patricia Cook (Richard); brother-in-law, Tom Denner (Norma); sisters-in-law, Marilyn Zieser and Betty Winter.
Preceding Jim in death are his parents; mother and father-in-law, Nellie and Henry Denner; brothers, Phil, Louis (Marge) and Howard (Martha); a sister, Sister Josita; brothers-in-law, Howard Shannon, Jerome Callan, John Denner, and Art Winter.
