Lori LaRean Hawbaker, 62, of Adel passed away, Saturday, December 16, 2023, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Visitation: 4-8 PM, Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at Cedar Memorial Chapel Stateroom. Celebration of Life: Sunday, April 7, 2024, at Adel United Methodist Church, time to be determined. 

Lori was born on July 22, 1961, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Eunice (Hite) Edler. She graduated from Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids and earned an associate degree from Upper Iowa University. On April 7, 1984, she was united in marriage to Clarke Hawbaker in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Lori worked as a senior financial analyst at Continental Western for the last twenty-four years. 

Lori’s hobbies included reading, baking, and making crafts. She enjoyed the time she spent with her church group. She looked forward to Cousin’s Week. Lori and Clarke enjoyed the time they spent together attending Comic Book Conventions. She was an animal lover and would have adopted every available dog in an animal shelter. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband of thirty-nine years Clarke of Adel, children Alysa Hite, Rian Brewer-Hawbaker, and Lucas Hite-Hawbaker all of Adel, brother Dennis (Caroline) Edler, sister-in-law Marjorie Edler, brother-in-law Larry Wisner, nieces Tonya Moore and Megan Wisner nephews Scot, Todd, Rodney, Dean, and Chad Edler, and cousin Roxann Inman.

Preceding her in death were her parents, brothers Henry and Terry Edler, sister Patricia Wisner, and nephew Hank Edler.
