Rev. Lloyd E. Brockmeyer passed away on August 30, 2023, in Avon, Indiana. Members of his family were at his side. He was 91.

Lloyd was born in Colesburg, Iowa on May 14th, 1932, and grew up on a dairy farm. He attended William Penn College in Oskaloosa, Iowa and Drew University in New Jersey for Seminary. He married Mary Huffaker on Sept. 3rd, 1954. He was ordained as a Methodist minister and served at several small churches throughout the state of Iowa. In 1976, he became Associate Pastor and Minister of Pastoral Care at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Lloyd retired from full time ministry in 1998 but continued as a part time Minister of Congregational Care for a number of years. Lloyd was a poet and author,and served on many boards and committees within his community, state and United Methodist Conference. 

He leaves behind his wife, Mary Brockmeyer; children Jeff Brockmeyer, Beth Ruhkamp, and Ann Knicley; brother Roger Brockmeyer; sisters, Evelyn Deen and Laurel Anderson; grandchildren, Jarod Brockmeyer, Erica Kohl, Hannah Knicley, Jacob and Noah Ruhkamp; and great grandchildren Jordan Brockmeyer, Hudson and Emerson Kohl.

Services will be held at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 1340 3rd Ave SE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Friday, September 29th at 10:30 a.m. The service will be live streamed on the church's YouTube channel at: youtube.com/@StPaulsUMCCR/streams. Visitation will be Thursday, September 28th from 4 to 7 p.m. at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Cedar Rapids, Iowa and his committal will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, September 30th at Zion Cemetery in Colesburg, Iowa.
