Jeanette Geneva Robinson, 90, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Monday, January 3, 2022, at the Hiawatha Care Center surrounded by her family. Private family services will be held Friday, January 7, 2022, at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Burial will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery following the funeral service.  A livestream of the service will begin at 2pm.  It can be accessed on the funeral home website, through the video tab link on the obituary.

Jeanette was born at home (she was a tough cookie right from the start) on September 18, 1931, in Enigma, GA to Robert and Florence (Gray) Pope.  She was united in marriage to Loyal Robinson on August 11, 1956, in Jackson, Mississippi. To this union five children were born.  Jeanette was a wonderful homemaker and delighted in every opportunity to spend time with family and friends.  Her home was the place to be if you were looking for a delicious southern homecooked meal or needed someone to talk to.  No one ever left her house empty handed.  She loved her calendars from the VFW, watching the squirrels and birds-especially cardinals, and wearing the color red-especially red lipstick and nail polish. So, in honor of Jeanette, wear something red and watch for those cardinals.  We are sure she will stop by from time to time to make sure we are all okay.

Jeanette will be deeply missed by her children, Jerry (Jeri ) Robinson of Middletown NJ, Debbie Sivertsen, and Bob Robinson (Barb) of Cedar Rapids IA; ten grandchildren Stacey, John (Erin), Julie, Christopher (Kristin), Jennifer, Becky, Ashleigh (Ryan), Abby (Robbie), James (Dani), Jessica, Allyson, Adam, and Andrew; seven great-grandchildren, Kaden, Maddy, Rylee, Eilish, Cohen, Lilly, and Malcolm;  close niece Patsy; favorite cat Oreo

Jeanette is reunited in heaven with her youngest son Dwight, oldest son Jim, and her husband Loyal of 59 years.  In addition, she was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters and three brothers; many friends and extended family members.

The family wants to extend great appreciation to the Hiawatha Care Center staff who loved Jeanette so much; especially Jenny, Hannah and Ahn.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Jeanette’s name to the Hiawatha Care Center, 405 15th Ave, Hiawatha, IA, 52233.

We love you mom!  Yes, we know, you love us more.  Rest in peace.
