I’m so sorry to hear this! She has been dear to me for so many years since I served Kenwood Park Pres as a Parish Assistant in the late 1990s. We stayed in touch through Synod School. I recall the joy on her face!

Rick and Nancy, hoping that you remember me ??. I wanted to let you know how sorry I am to hear of Genee’s passing; She was always delightful and a joy to chat with. I know my mom thought the world of her. I think she was the lone survivor of the group my mom loved spending time with. I did see her at Opals service last July and she still seemed pretty sharp: in fact, she remembered me and I had not seen her for years. She was able to update me on you and the kids. Sending prayers for your family. Mary Landhuis

Genee was my downstairs neighbor for 15+ years -- she was one of the loveliest people that I have ever had the priviledge to know. Through the years we shared our love of reading and doing Jigsaw puzzles and lots of friendly chit-chats. I was always amazed at her stamina of never sitting still -- her taking "old" [most of them younger than her] people to their Doctors appointments; delivering Meals On Wheels and being at the Rockwell Rec Center almost daily. She loved to talk about her children and grandchildren and her adorable great-grandchildren some of whom I got to know when they came to visit. Her spirit both in life and illness was awe-inspiring. Going to greatly miss this dear lady!

Growing up on "the block" in Bowman Woods I remember every 4th of July picnic at the Coles'. And always I remember Genee as being lively and bubbly and warm and friendly. She was such a joy to be around.

I met "Genee" as we were part of the Church Women United. Gene was fun to be around. Save pennies and give them to missions.

Genee was a patient of mine before I retired five years ago. I remember Genee as a kindly, cheerful, and thoughtful person. She was one who made this a better world. It was our privilege to have her as a friend.

Genee and I have been bible study buddies for over 10 years. Oh, the books we read and discussions we had. It has been a great spiritual adventure and I was fortunate to have the opportunity to travel with her. Going to greatly miss this dear friend.

It has been my great pleasure to live in the same condo building with Genee for the past 21-1/2 years. She has been a great friend and a wonderful neighbor and will be greatly missed by anyone who knew her. My sincere condolences to all in her family.

Genee was beloved by all of the Barton family! She was our deacon from church and took great care of us! She made sure she received hugs from us every time we saw her. She made us feel welcomed and loved, what a kind and generous heart she had. We are sorry for this tremendous loss. Thoughts and prayers to her family!

I played bridge with Genee for many, many years, always enjoying our times together. She loved to win, but loved to play regardless of the outcome. Such a gentle soul, she’ll be missed by all who knew her.

I had the privilege of being Genee’s pastor during my year at Echo Hill Presbyterian. She went with me a couple of times on home visits and I always enjoyed that time. I’ll always remember her kind, compassionate, caring nature and her ever-present smile. Blessings and prayers for her family and friends. She will be missed!

May her memory be a blessing. Genee was a favorite person of mine, from teaching me how to sew in high school and making my prom dress, to attending my father's funeral this past January as a representative of the church - she has been a part of my life for more than 30 years.
