Dorothy A. Ransom, 92, of Cedar Rapids passed away on December 11, 2022, at the Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha. Visitation: 1-2 PM, Thursday, December 15, 2022, St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. Mass of Christian Burial: 2:00 PM, Thursday December 15, 2022, St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories Mausoleum. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Dorothy was born on March 21, 1930, in Madison, Wisconsin, the daughter of Frank and Hattie (Rake) Ryan. She was united in marriage to Sherill Ransom on November 26, 1955, in Madison, WI. Dorothy was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. She was very dedicated to her boys. Dorothy enjoyed being outdoors. She was an avid hiker and also enjoyed bicycling and running.
Survivors include her husband Sherill of Cedar Rapids, sons Michael (Karen) Ransom of Windsor, CO, Scott Ransom of Cedar Rapids, Shawn (Leigh) Ransom of Marion, and Todd Ransom of Cedar Rapids, seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and siblings David Ryan of Madison, WI and Sister Clarita Ryan of Manitowoc, WI.
Preceding her in death were her parents, brother Robert Ryan, daughter-in-law Kelly Ransom, and sister-in-law Eileen Ryan.
