Sue Ellen Thompson (84) of Cedar Rapids passed away on October 1, 2021 at Westridge Care Center in Cedar Rapids. Family will be holding a private graveside service with burial in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Sue Ellen Bargesser was born October 7, 1936 in Goreville, Illinois; the daughter of Dallas and Ruby (Thomason) Bargesser. Sue Ellen graduated from Carbondale High School in 1954 and later from Draughon’s Business College in Paducha, Kentucky. Sue was united in marriage to H. F. Tommy Thompson of Paducha, Kentucky on January 22, 1955 in Corinth, Mississippi. She & Tommy moved to Cedar Rapids in 1963. Sue retired as a production coordinator for CMF&Z Advertising in Cedar Rapids. Sue’s hobbies were playing the piano, working with plants and flowers, she loved playing scrabble on the computer, having great family get togethers and bowling three to four times a week.
Surviving are three sons, Doug (Shirley), Greg(Jody), and Rod Thompson all of Cedar Rapids; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; two nieces Zaunda Peacock and Jan Hirons.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her twin children Tina and Terry in 1962, a grandson Matthew Glen Thompson in 2001 and her brother Carl Jr. Bargesser and sister-in-law Anna Mae Bargesser of Mount Vernon, Illinois.
