Memorial
Janice “Jan” Lee Airy, 85, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa passed away on Friday, July 30th, 2021, at the Cottage Grove Place in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 PM on Wednesday, August 4th at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, August 5th at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Burial will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Jan was born on December 11, 1935, in Des Moines, Iowa the beloved daughter of James “Ralph” and Alma (Fink) Porter. Jan graduated from Altoona High School. She was united in marriage to R. Dean Airy on June 6, 1954, in Des Moines, Iowa. To this union four children were born. Jan was employed at Farmers State Bank from 1977 until she proudly retired in 2005. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Marion, Iowa, and National T.T.T. Society in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
She loved golfing, and traveling, especially to Arizona in the winter months. Jan’s greatest joy was found in her family – especially with her grandchildren whom she adored, cared for, and encouraged. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, R. Dean Airy of Cedar Rapids, IA; four children, Lee (Ron) Habrich of Canby, OR; Nancy (Bob) Benson of Dublin, OH; Dave (Pat) Airy of Cedar Rapids, IA; and Brad (Katie) Airy Dublin, OH; six grandchildren, Matt, Erin, Megan, Melissa, Chad, and Taylor; and eight great-grandchildren.
Jan was preceded in death by her parents and a granddaughter, Jordyn Airy.
