Elizabeth “Betty” Leeland, 94, was born on the family farm near Strasburg, ND.  A private family service will be held at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories.  The service will be live streamed at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 and may be viewed at: https://client.tribucast.com/tcid/8435967.  As mandated by proclamation, social distancing must be practiced.  The use of facemasks or shields is required.

The daughter of John and Frances (Scheer) Lauinger.  Betty married R.I. “Lee” Leeland on August 27, 1949.  Betty was often referred to as the ‘Hosta Lady’ due to her passion about her Hosta garden and providing hostas and assistance to others.  She also enjoyed selling her baked good at local farmer markets.  For many years, Betty enjoyed crafting and selling her pinecone and dried flower creations at Christmas shows and markets.  Betty was quite adventurous and had flown in small ultra-light airplanes, rode in small helicopters, skied in Colorado Rockies, swam in the ocean, rode horses, rode on motorcycles, and loved to travel.

Betty shared her life with her husband Lee, sons Wayne (Linda) Leeland of Nelson, Wisconsin, Michael (Susan) Leeland of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; daughters Sheran (Daniel) Gatto of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Karen (Roger) Huntington of Tomball, Texas; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Frances Lauinger, her son Daniel Scott Leeland, a great grandson, and seven of her ten brothers and sisters.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the YMCA of Marion or Scared Heart Convent.
