Dear Family of Darrell Johnson. I was sad to hear of your loss . It sounds as though he had a great life and served the Lord throughout! I know him through Opstead Baptist Church at Opstead. He was one of the guys that volunteered time to help us kids at Bible school, usually June. We played baseball and a lot of fun games. I will never forget his timeless energy giving us kids a great Bible vacation school memory! My condolences! God be with you all.

Joanne and family. We have so many joyful memories of Darrel with Awanas. He always kept things exciting and managed to teach the children of Gods all consuming grace. Heidi still remembers a time when Darrel had some fun activity and he was acting like he was directing traffic so I just HAD to bring him one of those BRIGHT NEON ORANGE VESTS. It was a PLEASURE know him and it's NOT GOODBYE, IT'S SEE YOU LATER ? HUGS, JAN & GENE MAIRE

Joanne So sorry for your loss. My sympathy to you and your family. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. Marcia Hahn

My condolences to Darrel’s family. I knew them in a professional way. Darrel was concerned that Joanne knew the ropes of finances. He was so proud of his children and often talked about their accomplishments. Wonderful man to many.

We're in agreement and echoing what everyone else is saying on this page. When I shared his passing on our church page I described him as "a go-getter for Jesus". And by the way you can sure contact me if you want to hear comments left on that page (gvosatka@gmail.com or 521-3922). We are truly thankful for what your family contributed to what is now our greatly blessed Stonebridge Church heritage; Awana surely ministered to so many through those great years and I believe still does today and forever!!! SO very glad we can look forward to that glorious reunion together forever and in the meantime trust great memories of a super guy will add to the comfort and peace only our Almighty God can provide!!! PLEASE let us know Joanne if we can be of any assistance to you going forward.

Joanne, Becky, Keith, and family: We are sorry to learn of Darrell’s passing from this life but rejoice he is with our Lord. We remember him as hardworking, thorough with whatever job he took on, and always cheerful in it. Our children and many others benefited from the Awana program he put in place. Praying for all of you.

Joanne, Becky, Keith and family, We were so sorry to hear of your loss of Darrell. He brought a spark of energy into any room he entered; working tirelessly for the LORD and for families. This world will not be the same without him...our hearts, thoughts and prayers go out to you. May you be sustained by God’s mercy and Grace. Peace to you all.

Dean remembers Darrel as an energetic, dedicated administrator of the Christian Education program at Cedar Hills Evangelical Free Church. He implemented the AWANA program for our children and grew the ministry with care. Rachel remembers being on the Christian Education Board with Darrel. He was very good about helping her get the classes organized and helped her a lot with structure to make things run smoothly. Because he thought it was important we set up a procedure for protecting the safety and well-being of the students. This included Child Abuse Prevention guidelines for workers. Darryl always had great ideas for activities, games and programs for Christian Education and he did not avoid anything that took a lot of time and effort to implement.

Pastor Darrell a hero in my eyes!! He put up with all of us with a smile on his face!!! He guided us on the right path whether or not we wished to see it. Thank you so much for being a blessing in all our lives. Your kind smiles and joy in your face will be missed. See you again when God calls me home. Aren’t we so blessed that he is home with his true Father. His fruits of the spirit were painted on his smiling face.
