Eileen M. Dais, 87, of Cedar Rapids passed away Sunday, April 4, 2021 at Bickford Cottage of Marion.  A Private Funeral Mass will be held at All Saints Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids.  Entombment at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories Mausoleum.  Visitation will be held on Monday, April 12, 2021 from 5-7 PM at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.

Following the continued guidance from health officials, physical distancing must be practiced which requires a limited number of people allowed into the visitation at one time. The use of facemasks or shields is required.

Eileen was born on June 15, 1933 in Herreid, SD, the daughter of Frank and Susanne “Susie” (Weisbeck) Schaefbauer.  She married Marvin Dais on March 20, 1952 in Herreid, SD.  Eileen was a member of All Saints Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids.  She loved to crochet.  Eileen enjoyed bowling and participating in bowling leagues.  She made the best pancakes, chocolate chip cookies, and homemade bread.  She also liked playing cards and traveling with Marvin and her family.  Her travels included trips to Germany, Switzerland, Israel, Mexico, the Netherlands, Hawaii, Alaska, as well as most of the other 48 states.  

Survivors include three children Marlene (Jesse) Arenas of Albuquerque, NM, Sheryl (Patrick) O’Connell of Marion, and Steven (Kim) Dais of San Diego, CA, four grandchildren Shauna (Kevin) Graybill, Rick (Angela) Arenas, Candice (Ryan) Murphy, and Brandon (Aly) O’Connell, eight great-grandchildren Ashleigh, Bailey, Eli, Addie, Izzy, Kaylin, Kellen, and Keegan, sister Shirley Ann (Sister Teresita) Schaefbauer of Aberdeen, SD, and brother Frank (Sara) Schaefbauer of Pierre, SD.  

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Marvin on March 26, 2004, sisters Roberta F. “Bert” Schaefbauer Goehring Liebelt and Doris M. Lacher, and brother Duane M. Schaefbauer.  

Memorial donations can be made to St. Luke’s Hospital Foundation, All Saints Catholic Church, or Bickford Cottage of Marion.
