Judy, you know you and all the family are in our prayers and thoughts. Clyde was as much a family member as he was a friend. He was loved and looked up to. To say he will be missed is an under statement. Know we love you and would do anything we can to help.

Judy and family, I am sorry for your loss. My mother was asking about Clyde today and I reminded her that I thought he had passed. I never met you or Clyde but my mother (and father) would talk about you frequently when they would see you at the Kaufee Kup.

I just read about Clyde passing in November. He was such a kind neighbor. Rosie and I popped into see him a few years back. All the neighbor kids loved him. RIP Clyde.

Dear Judy and Meril and family, I am so sorry for your loss. My Dad recently told me of Clyde's passing. Your family made such a huge impression on me as a young child. I have not seen you in decades but have thought of you often. He was such a kind next door neighbor. I have so many fond memories of living next door to you. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dear Judy, Meril, and other family and friends of Clyde. The surprise of his passing brought back many memories of our association, most connected with anything to do with the Wellington Heights Neighborhood Association, the Paul Engle Center for the Arts and as a close friend of my significant other, Pat Crawford. I will forever remember him for the countless selfless hours he spend in working for the betterment of not only the neighborhood, as a Police Chaplin, as a Hospital Chaplin and various Church Ministries. And who can ever forget his slogan about his barbequing with the claim that "Our pork is so tender you won't even have to chew it." To the Family and Friends of Clyde, I can only offer my deepest sympathies and condolences and prayers. RIP Clyde and put in a good word for us there, would you? A friend. Bob "Bobert" Bembenek

Aunt Judy and Meril; we’re offering our sincere condolences for the loss of our mother’s baby brother, Uncle Clyde. He is the last of the Bailey siblings and will be greatly missed. We’re praying for you that God will comfort your hearts. I can only imagine what a family reunion in Heaven this must be... laughter with Aunt Gladys, Aunt Mable, my mom,Leora, Uncle Ben, Uncle Paul, Aunt Maggie and Aunt Birdie! Rest in Paradise dear Uncle... Rest In Peace. Don & Dianne England - Oklahoma City, OK

Clyde was a wonderful man, I worked at Sams club as a cake decorator and Clyde always came in for a chocolate cake and usually had us write funny things on them. He always said the cake was for Judy, he always made us laugh. I had seen him throughout the years since I left Sams club and he always had the same genuine smile and jokes, he made a friend in everyone he met. Im so sad to hear of his passing. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. Some people leave footprints and impressions wherever they go and Clyde was definitely one of those people, heaven gained a beautiful soul, I feel very grateful to have known such a wonderful man

Clyde was a one of a kind neighbor and good friend. From the time I bought my house across the street from Clyde and Judy, they welcomed me into the neighborhood and I became the recipient of Judy's great deserts and Clyde's famous barbecue. One exceptional act of kindness on Clyde's part was when I bought my daughter her first car. Clyde came over and looked at it & asked if he could have it for the evening. To my surprise he stayed up all night detailing every aspect of the car, even shampooed the carpets & returned it the next morning looking like a million $$. What a neighbor and good friend. We'll miss you so much!! Judy, you're in my thoughts and prayers and here for you if you need ANYTHING.

Judy, You are in our prayers and you know we are here for you. We thought a lot of Clyde he was a good and close family friend. We have a lot of good memories of Clyde some we will never forget. He will truly be missed. We are here for you Judy anytime.

Judy, and family Clyde will be greatly missed by so many people. He touched so many in such a positive way. My condolences to all of you. His catering was the very best.

Clyde Bailey was a gentle soul with his southern voice and strong faith. He is at peace in the presence of the Lord. God rest his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed . . .don't worry, Clyde - I'll keep an eye on Judy and make sure she eats her chocolate.

The Bible says to absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. I have no doubt where Clyde Baily is right now. Clyde is receiving his rewards for the love, kindness, and friendship he so freely gave to all of us. Clyde's love was a representation of Christ's love. Clyde, you are and forever will be my friend/my Brother for eternity. Thank you for your encouragement to my son when most had given up. You loved him back to Jesus. I love you my Brother. Serving alongside you as a Cedar Rapids Safety Chaplain was an honor I will never duplicate. Judy, I will pray for God's peace for you as you grieve this loss. Meril, I hope and pray you learned well from your dad about how to get that smoke to perfection!!! You not only loss dad but you lost a true friend. Oh, and I haven't forgotten that he was full of fun and laughter. I will miss Clyde Bailey!!!

Sorry to hear about Clyde passing. He was a friend and a father figure to me after my father passed years ago. We had many good time together. He will be missed by all that knew him.

Clyde was one of the Chaplains at the Cedar Rapids Police Department. He assisted me with many death notifications, ceremonies and stood beside me when I was threatened to be sued for having prayer services for all Linn County Law Enforcements. He made THE BEST BBQ EVER!!!! He loved Jesus, Judy and Meril. And he loved the officers at the CRPD. He was our brother in blue that gave so much to the department. I love you and will miss you Clyde. Until we meet again in Heaven, keep the BBQ warm for me and praying for me!!!

I met Clyde when my neighbor, his son Meril, introduced him to me one day. What a sparkling conversation we had! To top it off, he also shared some of his special ribs with me to take home to my wife. Now, Bonnie and I have enjoyed fine barbecue before, but these were absolutely the best! I am sure his family will relish that recipe and enjoy his memory for many years to come.

My sincere condolences to Clyde’s family. During my 32 years with the CRPD, Clyde very often helped to make tough times better as a Police Chaplain or just a friend when his opinion was appreciated. All that knew Clyde honored his lifestyle and always enjoyed conversations with him. He will be missed. RIP Mr. Bailey.

Sorry to hear about Clyde. I truly enjoyed our friendship. Clyde lived life to its fullest. He was full of adventures, loved by many and will be missed

I've known Clyde for years. He was such a blessing to our Neighborhood and a GREAT friend. I will truly miss his great personality and the best Bar B Q in town. I miss you already Clyde. Jesus needed you in heaven because you were and still are an Angel. See you soon my friend.

Clyde will be missed by many, I met Clyde at Sam’s Club, I missed him after I left, he sure did make me smile and laugh every time I would see him when I would be working. Clyde was such a easy to like guy that is for sure, a unique and never forgotten man! ????

Heaven gained an angel!!! I remember Clyde clearly; always a smile on his face and would make you feel happy even if you were having a bad day. Always said something to cheer you up. I worked at Sam’s Club and he’s always come in to the bakery and ask foe a special cake (unbeknownst to me I’d decorate it with extra frosting only to find out later he was diabetic) When the time came for me to leave Sam’s for Costco he followed me and made that extra 25mi trip to Coralville to get one of my cakes. He was so kind and genuine. And would always ask why a stable pretty girl like me is single; I’d reply because I don’t play games, and he respected that and told me to never settle! Clyde I moved across country to follow my dreams and I remember us talking and you always supported my dram, so I’m proud to say I did it and am so happy! Loved and missed! ??????

Forever a cherished joy to have delightful, easy chats with Clyde. I am grateful to have the opportunity to bring some smiles to Clyde and Judy these last 2 years, and the honor of being treated to some of Clyde's fantastic smoked meat! Clyde will always be my Son's first friend, both of them lit up to see each other on our daily walks in the neighborhood. Clyde's steadfast presence as our Community's sentry both spiritually and -knowing all the busy street traffic word - will be spoken of for years to come, will always brighten our loving memories. We have already begun to instill in our home a 'Clyde attribute': "Oh I know it!" We smile remembering Clyde as he certainly did, "know it", by his 88years of life experience and formidable knack for picking up the scoop about... Everything! The man missed nothing ? Thank you for leaving beautiful memories for your Beloveds, Clyde. We here on Earth will do our Best to keep watch over Judy, your Son, and his children's children. -Love you, Jessie, Luke, Odie & Evie

I was so surprised to hear of Clyde's passing. I work at Sam's and on a medical leave right now and was just thinking of him the other day. He was such a delight to see when he was at Sam Club. He would always great me and always had such kind words and always made me laugh and feel so good. He will be missed. Rest in peace Clyde.

We have known him for a very long time, we all live in the same neighborhood. Our Prayers are going out to the family. R.I.P

Mr. Bailey, a wonderful soul. I knew him from Sams. A ray of sunshine. Rest in peace Mr. Bailey.

Clyde was my good friend and neighbor for over 30 years. He was one-of-a-kind and his passing will leave a big hole in my heart. Clyde was always there to lend a helping hand or to lift your spirits. He was always on the go and had many friends. I was lucky to have been one of them. R.I.P. Mr. Bailey, you will be missed.

Mr. Bailey was an absolutely delightly human being. I worked at Sam's club for almost 10 years and got to know him very well from there. He was in there all of the time. You could hear his laugh from the other side of the building. Working retail is one heck of an ordeal in itself, but people like him that came in and asked about your day and truly cared about how you were doing, really made things a little less awful. I always remember him coming in in a stocking hat with a big ol' poof ball on top. It was always an Iowa stocking hat with a sweatshirt. He would tell stories and a joke here and there to make you laugh. He had a huge impact on all of us that worked there around that time. Whenever I saw him I would always stop and say "Hello Mr Bailey!" He would say "That's Mr. Clyde M. Bailey!" He will be truly missed for sure. I hope knowing what a blessing he was to so many will bring some more love and healing your way. Thinking of you and your family.

Rest on Sir Uncle Clyde... Rest on in the arms of Jesus... you most certainly will be missed and never forgotten. I’ll always love you! “Your beautiful great great niece” as you would say -Andreia
