My sympathy to Darlene's family. I knew Darlene from Hawkeye Toastmasters. She was a kind and joyful person . She will be missed. Sister Ladonna Woerdeman

My condolences to Darlene‘s family. Over the last 20 years Darlene has become a treasured friend to me. I met Darlene through my daughter Carolyn, when Carolyn worked with Darlene at Electro Coatings. Darlene became enamored with her son Christian and then her next children, Kenzie, and Matthew. And together we became grandmothers to these children. She would call them her lightbulbs. She loved them so much and enjoyed every minute she was able to spend with them. I always loved our visits, our conversations, and especially listening to her tell stories of our grandchildren. She had a fabulous sense of humor and a very kind heart. I will miss her very much.

Our sympathy to Darlene's family. Darlene was such a kind, and graceful person. We were blessed to have her as a neighbor during my childhood years, and was able to stay in touch throughout the years. More recently, we kept in better touch, and had some good laughs, and some really good memories. She will be missed.

I am so sorry to read about Darlene's passing. I loved Darlene. She always brighten our day. I loved listening to her stories. She will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers to all.

I'm not sure how i became acquainted, but my wife Pat knew her before we met. I did her taxes for about 10 years. Always had a smile on her face when I came over to pick up her tax papers. Organized, and loved to chat. Just a joy to be able to spend time with. I can hear her voice in my mind. She would bring me up to date on the kids she'd help, the friends she thought I'd remember from previous conversations. Neat lady, and she definitely will be missed. RIP my friend.

I got to know Darlene as I was her UPS driver at Electro Coatings and her residence for many years. She was always smiling and I always looked forward to seeing her. She was a very strong, very classy and very intelligent lady. I had not seen her in many years and was saddened by her passing. Listened to her song, “For the Good Times” over and over as my way to say good bye.

My sympathies to Darlene’s family. I came to know her years ago in TM, and she was the kind of person you just remember forever for the amazing and friendly personality. She made a difference for me and I am sure everyone she encountered- what a classy sweetheart of a lady! Definitely recalling her supportive feedback of my speeches on this day! God Bless, Mark Ogden

We knew Darlene, for over 20 years, starting as members of the Hawkeye 617 Toastmasters (TM) club, in which Darlene was the treasurer. Her terrific sense of humor showed through in her many humorous speeches. She was always a well-dressed lady and a joy to be around. When Genny was a new TM, Darlene helped her with advice in her fair and insightful evaluations. Her understanding of TM protocol was outstanding. Darlene was a responsible TM, attending all levels of contests/conferences and very willing to accept any needed position. Genny was very appreciative of her help with various conferences, especially, the Regional Conference. Also, together, Genny and Darlene judged speech contests in the area. Our deepest sympathy to Darlene's relatives and friends. Andrew Yarne, DTM and Genny Yarne, DTM, PDG

Darlene was always a great neighbor and friend to me. I've known her all my life. She was very kind person with a smile all the time. Her loving nature will be missed deeply . My condolences to her family. Ray Wagner and Sharyn Fleenor

We will miss our Hawkeye Toastmaster friend! She often gave humorous speeches and sometimes more serious speeches, but she was also well-known for her kindness. I personally loved how she was so strong and independent -- forging a path for generations of women to follow. Darlene made a difference in my life, and I'm sure many others. My condolences to her family.
