I'm crushed by this news. I saw Randy, 4-5x a week at Hy-Vee on Edgewood. Always friendly. Always giving me a little guff. He talked about his Yankees -- and I talked about my Royals. I learned about his history of officiating and working with athletes and we bonded over this. Actually saw Randy his last day at Hy-Vee a few weeks back, leaving in his green pick-up truck and he said hello to me on the way out the door. I'm especially saddened that I won't be at the Celebration of Life this Saturday but I'll be at my son's soccer tournament -- and the funny part is that I know he'd like it that way. A kind and caring man. Rest in peace. Thank you for being a friend in the journey.

Our heartfelt condolences to Randy's family. Randy was my first high school umpire partner about 22 years ago. I learned a lot from Randy as my mentor, and we remained friends to this day. I will miss him dearly.

I will always remember Randy as a very kind hearted man! Whenever I went into HyVee gas station he was always smiling & helpful!
