Ms. Hammerberg was my Classical Literature teacher in Iowa Falls. One of my very best memories of school was of her passion with talking of Rodion Raskolnikov, and how his name rolled off of her tongue as she spoke of character and secrecy. And how much she loved The Iliad! "The gods envy us. They envy us because we’re mortal, because any moment may be our last. Everything is more beautiful because we’re doomed. You will never be lovelier than you are now. We will never be here again." ~~~ Homer, The Iliad Great teachers are nearly immortal. Her love of books was beautifully contagious. I'm so sorry for your loss. She was a rare human being and I loved her.

Our sympathy to all of your family. When we both lived in Ackley, Carm was my partner when we played golf. I remember always having a good time and lots of fun. We are sorry for your loss. A couple of our boys were good friends with Bob & Rick.

It was my pleasure to be in a bridge club with Carm. She was a good bridge player and a good friend. We will miss her. Mary Jane Jacobson. Fellow educator.

My sympathy to your family. Mrs. Hammerberg was an inspiration to many, certainly to me, & one of the nicest & smartest teachers. She made Spanish easy for us, gracefully, kindly, and inspired many. How wonderful she had such a large family!

I had Carmen for Spanish at Iowa Falls High in the 70s. She was an excellent teacher and made learning fun. Sorry for your loss. Looks like she kept active and involved even after retirement.

I am so very sorry for your loss. I played bridge with Carm for several years. She was a very good player and fun to spend time with. Everyone in the group liked her. While chatting during the bridge game she mentioned she had taught school in Iowa Falls. Since I had graduated and left IF before she came I didn't know her then but we shared many things about the area. She also knew my parents who taught there, too. I always felt close to her. She will be missed.

My heart goes out to you. She was one of my all-time favorite teachers. I had her for one year of English and two years of Spanish. She will be missed.

From Pauline, Paula & Gerrit, our condolences. Many good memories at the store in Ackley. Blessings and peace to the family.

Very sorry for your families loss, Bob and family. I remember your mom and dad attending many of Max’s baseball and basketball games. You could tell they were very dedicated to their kids and grandchildren. Our condolences to the entire family.
