Renée and Rick, sorry for the delay in my note but we headed to New Zealand when your mom/mother-in-law passed. She was my teacher at Johnson and always just so wonderful. Later in life every time I saw her she talk and introduce me to her friends. She was such a lovely lady. My condolences.

Dear Family, Jean was a one-of-a-kind person and a one-of-a-kind teacher. For four years in the early eighties, I had the high privilege of teaching First Grade with the amazing team of Jean Imoehl and Jane Waddington at Johnson School. Being the “new kid on the block,” I so appreciated their kind gesture of generously sharing a multitude of their materials and professional practices with me. I can still see the joy and hear the laughter expressed in Jean’s bright blue eyes throughout the day. Jean revered her daughter, Renee’ and Renee’s wonderful family. She spoke of them often. We need more people with Jean’s heart of love and kindness for others in our world!

In 1962, I was blessed to have Mrs Imoehl as my 2nd grade teacher at Johnson Elementary. Fifty seven years later, after attending many schools, with many good teachers, she remains my very favorite. She was always kind and gentle, constantly positive. I was a curly-headed 7 year old, overly sensitive, overly talkative and always believing I fell short in some unknown way. Mrs Imoehl made me believe I was special, not weird, with some academic gifts-though even she couldn’t get me to enjoy math. I have carried that feeling with me my entire life. I think I became a teacher, in special education, in part because of my 2nd grade year. To me, she was the most beautiful person I had ever seen, inside and out. And I believe that to this day. The world needs more Mrs Imoehls. I’m so sorry for your loss.

I remember scheduling with Jean year after year to get those 3rd graders at Johnson School together to hand each and every one of them a dictionary--always pushing to get them into those students hands and hoping they would all appreciate them!! I kept hearing about Irene's best friend at Hallmar--wish I would have known it was Jean IMOEHL--would have loved to talk with her-she was a great person with a real love for children and their education! God Bless her!!

So very sorry for your loss of Jean. As a new teacher at Johnson in 1970 Jean was so very kind and helpful in sharing her incredible teaching skills and experience. I loved how she called me "Honey"! :) Always a smile and a wink... Hold those good memories close to your heart--- Jean is at peace. God bless ---- Carol Olson Hold

It was fun to visit with Jean at Hallmar and hear her stories about outhouses. She wholeheartedly supported AAUW and advocacy to empower women and girls. She will be missed!
