Memorial
Edward Harvey Kraus, 77, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Friday, November 8, 2019, surrounded by his loving family. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Ed was born on January 21, 1942 in Oelwein, IA, the son of Harvey and Gladys Otdoerfer Kraus. He graduated from high school in Volga, IA. On October 18, 1969, he married Bonnie Bunting at Wayne Zion Lutheran Church, Monticello, IA. He was employed at Hawkeye Rubber and Sattler Homes. He was an avid University of Iowa football and basketball fan. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards and spending time with his family and friends. He was a kind, decent, generous and devoted husband and father who had an incredible sense of humor and was fully engaged in life.
Ed is survived by his wife, Bonnie; his children Kimberly Kraus and Kory Kraus; sisters Jane Kraus, Jean Sheppard, and Joyce Whiting; brothers-in-law Larry Sheppard and Larry Whiting; several nieces and nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Gladys Kraus.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Juvenile Diabetes Association in Ed’s honor.
