Such a lovely family -- I read with sadness about Tom's death and as I so often have, thought about the great sadnesses this family has survived.

My sincere sympathy to Tom's family. I had the pleasure of working with Tom in the Counseling Department at Kirkwood Community College. He was wonderful with students, always displayed a calm and caring demeanor, and seemed to have a special "secret" about life. Perhaps that was his deep Faith in God. Blessings to all of you.

I am sorry for your loss.
I worked for the Linn County Secondary Road Department for many years and interacted with Tom frequently. He had high standards and worked with the department in a polite and positive way to have those standards met. Getting Stone City Road seal coated and properly maintained was a significant contribution that Tom made to his area. Retaining trees along the property was a primary goal of his, and his success was mostly due to his tenacity, demeanor and willingness to compromise a bit.

I want to extend my sympathy to all of the Meade family. Mr. Meade was my 8th grade science teacher back in '67-'68. He was a very kind man to us all, and a fine teacher. I remember him being very calm, very methodical, and we were fortunate to have him at Roosevelt. I was not surprised at all to read of his long career in education and his devotion to his faith. I'm very sorry for your loss.
