Alan Aubrey Brown, 87, of Marion, died Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Living Center West Nursing Home in Cedar Rapids. Funeral Service: 11:00 am Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories with visitation one hour prior to service. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.
Alan was born November 6, 1931, the son of Aubrey and Alice (Berrie) Brown, in Burlington, Iowa. He served with the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict from 1948 to 1952. On January 28, 1956, Alan was married to Kathryn Hutchinson in Monmouth, Illinois.
Alan was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan, especially Hawkeye wrestling. He also enjoyed many hobbies such as running, bowling and reading.
Survivors include his three children, Anna (Steve) Strand, Lisa (Jim) Wichman, Ron Brown; seven grandchildren, Kirk (Katie) Strand, Kyle (Staci) Strand, Kade Strand, April (Travis) Buysse, Andrea (DJ) Nelson, AJ Wichman, Anissa Wichman; nine great grandchildren, Ethan, Brody, Hayden, Charlie, Parker, Penn, Peyton, Mya, Jameson; and five sisters.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; three brothers; and two sisters.
