Our condolences to all. Dorothy – or “Dort” as we knew her, is indelibly imprinted in the memories of the Texas Riley's. Her visits to Texas with Virgil -as snow birds from the north - were fairly regular events after our move to Texas in the late 1980’s. As a child, I remember Dorothy doing babysitting chores (with me), and I remember her visit to Panama for the Christmas season in the mid-1960’s (see image). As a kid, I loved the part of our vacations that we spent at the Burrack farm (Starmont School site) and it seemed Dorothy was always there helping out (see image). Having grown up far outside the geographic world she knew so well, I think she looked upon me as a bit of a curiosity, and I always liked to rib her about our trivial differences. One joke between us that stood out was the couch vs. davenport controversy. I would say …. “Dorothy, … what the heck is a davenport?” For some reason it stuck and we enjoyed laughs about it forever. Dorothy is among the happiest people I’ve ever known, a steady rock, always the same, and she always seemed to have a smile on her face. Fortunately, I had the chance to visit with her briefly during the past few years. She will be forever remembered.

Thinking of Aunt Dorothy and remembering her fondly. We are not able to attend the funeral but will be there in spirit.

Virgil, we are so sorry for your loss. We lived across from you on D Ave. We were so happy when you found Dorothy. We enjoyed Christmas cards all the years. And some times we ran into you at the doctors office. I can remember your 25th party. Can’t believe you are 100! Sorry we can’t be with you Sat. In our prayers....Harold and Marilyn Heth

My condolences to you all. I lived next door to Dorothy and Virgil for 3 years until their move to Cottage Grove. They were most friendly, loved to chat and Dorothy always hosted a birthday party for Virgil's birthday, inviting neighbors. Blessings to you all!!!
