Mrs. Thimmesch was my 2nd grade teacher at Fillmore back in the 1970s. Her classroom was a fun, busy learning environment and a great place for a kid to feel safe and understood. I remember her always being a caring teacher and having her blondish-red short hair and, during spring months, wearing short sleeved or sleeveless blouses. Back then report cards in elementary school were handwritten. I used to be amazed at her perfectly vertical, left-hand cursive writing, and that her report cards were always written in green ball point pen...but it wasn't the bright green you could get from Bic pens, it was a darker green. I always wanted to know where she got her pens. I always wanted to be able to duplicate her beautiful handwriting, but never quite could; she made me want to be left handed and never knew it. Wonderful lady and a wonderful legacy she leaves behind.

I cared for Sharon when she first arrived at LCW. She was an ambitious, clever lady and we always shared some laughs. She shared her kind words, and we kept each other company countless days. It was an honor caring for such a wonderful lady. Prayers to the entire family during this time.

Steve and family, please know our hearts and prayers are with you today and always as you celebrate your beautiful mother!

Cindy and family. My thoughts are with you during this time of loss .

Mrs. Thimmesch was my favorite teacher! She ran a tough show and held all her students to high standards. I had her in 2nd grade at Fillmore. She inspired me to work hard and to go into education myself. I have been a teacher for 27 years and it is because of your wife/mom. I would see her out and about and she always remembered me. I still even have items that I bought from her garage sale. She will always be the best teacher ever! I will always tell her story to my new classes each year. Her spirit will live on!

Ken, I am so sad to hear of Sharon's passing. I first got to know both of you when Sharon needed my care at the St. Luke's Wound Healing Center, and I thought the world of you both, admired the love and care you shared for each other, so evident in the exam room. Reading the obituary, I realize all the more what a special person Sharon was, that I am hardly alone in having been gifted to know her. My thoughts, my prayers, are with you, Ken, and your family. As for Sharon, heaven has already welcomed her home!

To Ken, your children and grandchildren and to everyone who was blessed to have known Sharon ... what a wonderful legacy she leaves. My husband, Jack, and I met Sharon and Ken when we were part of the Desert Storm Support Group. When someone you love becomes a memory, those memories become a treasure. We all share a special treasure!

I got to meet Sharon and Ken back when Steve was overseas and I began correspondence with him...please be assured of my prayers for her and for the entire family in this time of sadness.!

Steve, We’re saddened to hear of your sweet mother’s passing. She was such a tower of strength with a heart of gold. We only knew her briefly but she left an indelible impression, (your dad and you too) on us. A gentle, loving, selfless, woman who touched many lives- she will be sorely missed by all. We will keep you and family in our prayers. Sincerely, Pat and Richard Thompson

Ken we are so very sorry to hear about the loss of Sharon. She will always be in our thoughts as we remember all the good times. Stay strong good friend and keep in touch.
