I will miss my friend. Tom had such a good heart and deep love for Debbie and his children.

I didn't know Tom very well, but I have been a great admirer of his films for years. I finally got the chance to have lunch with him last spring and he told me great stories about working as a filmmaker in Iowa. He was warm charming, passionate about his work and very witty. Its too bad we hadn't met sooner, he had a lot to offer filmmakers and will be missed as a great storyteller.

Debbie: I'm the lady in the parking lot at the Social Security office this afternoon and I didn't make this connection until later. Tom was a classmate at Franklin. I'm so sorry for your loss. If you need to contact me for any reason my number is listed.

Tom was my first date in grade school.--- Tom asked me over to play checkers.. Tom was always a gentleman and though he went off to boarding school he always had a welcoming smile when I saw him. And I loved some of those old home movies your family made!! I still have a 6 grade play about a detective that his father wrote and several of us acted in.

I first met Tom & Debbie in the early 1970s, when Tom was every bit as unique as he was to the end: passionate, irrepressible, full of energy and ideas, equal parts endearing and infuriating, with a boundless appetite for the good life – friends, family, food, art, nature – that was surely inherited from Fed. I’ll miss his wit, his stories, and his many kindnesses. His was indeed a wonderful life and he will remain a cherished memory in mine. Deepest sympathies to Debbie and the children, to the Hedges and Stamats clans, and to his many friends and colleagues.

Tom’s warmth knew no bounds. He’ll be remembered for his love of family, of work, of beauty, of art…all the finer things in life.
