I am sorry for your loss. I was doing research on something totally unrelated and came across their wedding announcement in the Berlin Observer. I thought you might like it. Page 8 under the headline "Any BachelorBait?" http://www.theberlinobserver.com/archive/1945V1/V1_N20_Dec_8.pdf

We were saddened to learn that Vera has died. She and my mother, Char Fye, got together last year ( thank you, Jean). She was a feisty lady. My sisters and I took her to lunch once and she wouldn't let us pay for her lunch. While she was in the restroom we put a 20 in her coat pocket. I bet she had things to say when she found that later! Our father, David Fye, was her cousin. We always adored her. Our sympathies to her family.

We lived next door to Vera on Franklin Ave., but moved away 4 years ago. We are in the process of moving back to Iowa and happened to take a drive by the old house, which prompted us to look up Vera. We are so sorry of her passing and of your loss. She was such a nice lady and we loved being her neighbor. We will always remember her talking with our kids when they were babies and toddlers, and that amazing garden! We bet she is gardening away and blazing a trail in heaven!

Jean, Susan, and Richard, So sorry to hear of the loss of your mom. She was a great person to be around. Both your mom and dad were nice neighbors to share a driveway with. Prayers go out to you and your families.

Your parents welcomed my sister and myself to their home. Christmas dinner with them in 1991 will be remembered forever. Thank you Richard for sharing them and your Mom’s great meals.

Richard, I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your mom. I will always remember her and your dad always offering me meals as a starving student. It was very appreciated. She was a very funny and sweat lady who could stand her ground. My thoughts and prayers to you, Jean, Sue, and the rest of your family. Mishelle Vislisel

The Travis Park Bell Choir expresses their thoughts to Susan and her family. We don't know Vera, but she lives on in all the wonderful ways Susan contributes to her community.

We're very sorry for the loss of your mom and gramma Vera. Vera was a sweet, funny lady. I always enjoyed our Christmas visits at the mall. I could tell she had a wicked sense of humor. Thoughts and prayers are with you and your families.
