He was my #1 Mentor and always pushed me to believe in myself which kept me where I landed today - still at Life Investors/Transamerica and soon to be TCS. Fish . . . Rest in peace my friend. Paul, you were a terrific role model for me at Life Investors, etc. You were always helpful and you taught me the importance of being humble and flexible in our work assignments. More importantly, you taught me the value of treating folks right and with dignity.

Phyllis: I was so sorry to hear of Paul's Passing. He was always first class in all his accomplishments in this life. Paul was a basketball team mate of mine at Catholic Central in Ottumwa in the early fifties. He was one my best friends and we spent a lot of time together in 1951 & 1952. We went our separate ways after High School. I will always remember him as a true gentleman and friend. I know he will be greatly missed by his entire family and his many friends in the Cedar Rapids area. Phyllis, Paul and your family will all be remembered in our prayers. Fran & Mary Kay Riley

Dear Deb, Mike and I are so sorry to hear of your father's passing. We are happy to have had the chance to see you a few months ago in happier moments. We had the opportunity to read about his life. What a wonderful legacy he leaves. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the family. Mike was happy to see your father's connection with St. Ambrose. Beth and Mike Jansen

Dear Deb, I was saddened to hear about the loss of your father. My thoughts and prayers go out to you, Jeff, and your entire family.

Dear Deb - My deepest sympathies for the loss of your father. Praying you will hold happy memories of him in your heart forever.

Phyllis, so sad to hear that Paul has died. I came to Life Investors in 1984 and we became good friends. Always loved and heard about the "class of 67". My fondest memories were the Sat morning golf outings with Paul, Ron Brandt and Don Grooms. Paul was a great leader of his team, mentor to many and was involved in many acquisitions by Life Investors. He will be sorely missed by you and his family. God Bless you all.

I’m terribly sorry to hear that Paul has died. Phyllis, I really valued those two terribly long and trying days spent with you and Paul during John’s surgeries. We had some great conversations and I’m very thankful for that time to get to know you both better. Though the situation was grim - I truly believe that Paul’s good humor, kindness and openness really helped us all actually get through the time in a somewhat enjoyable fashion. I still laugh at some of the things he said. I have a lot of free time during the weekdays and would really appreciate some visits with you. I will be in touch. Much Love, Angie and Blake Jacob and Patrick Wilkinson

My sincerest condolences to Paul’s family. He was an authentic and truly remarkable person who inspired others around him. He will remembered for many qualities —but for me in particular- his enthusiasm and friendship.

Some of our best times in Cedar Rapids were living next door to you all on Chatham Road. So sorry to get this news. Sweet man.

For me Paul was a great fellow worker at Life Investors/AEGON and after we retired a fellow fund raiser at United Way. The picture with his obituary was exactly what you could expect every morning when we were working together. It is the same smile I expect to see when he greets me in Heaven.

I am sorry to hear of your father’s passing John. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

One of my all time favorite people ... I met Paul my first week at Life Investors, Feb 1977. I was just out of high school. He was so kind and always had a big, big smile. Most memorable ... the first time on a Friday afternoon when Jim Kuchenbaker’s Maintenance staff wheeled in a keg of beer to our second floor New Business area. Paul came charging out of his office and invited us all in with a “LET’S HARMONIZE”. (I say first time because there were many, many more!!). I grew up under the charge of Paul, Pat, Chris, Bill and Leo (The Class of 67) and I’m a better person for it! Phyllis and family, thank you for sharing your dear Paul with so many of us. I was blessed to enjoy and learn from him for many years! And thank you both for your patronage at Blue Lagoon over the years!

We were so sorry to hear about Paul. Phyllis, we wish we could be there for you, you are in our loving thoughts and prayers.
