Dear Ross family —-We were fellow parishioners with your family at Central Park Presbyterian. My dad, Robert T. Powell, passed away almost 21 years ago and Mom (Carol) just turned 103 years old this week. Mr. And Mrs. Ross were fine leaders in the church and community. However, your personal loss would be immeasurable. It was very interesting to read of Jean’s heritage and many accomplishments/skills. My remembrance was mainly that she and her devoted husband, George, were the parents of Patti, Lachlan and David (I never knew Nancy). They did conduct a human sexuality class when I was a teenager and we all kept our heads down —not looking at each other for weeks. God bless you all as you mourn for this precious soul. Love, Nancy Sadler & Carol Powell

Jean has been a very special part of our settling into the neighborhood. Our family will deeply miss hearing her wonderful stories. With love and prayers. The Levendusky family.

We have been good friends of Jean and George for a long time. She was a very special friend to me, and I will miss her with all my heart. She talked about her family all the time so I feel like I know each and everyone of you. She loved you all dearly. I know she is looking down on all of you and is so very proud of you. She was a real sweetheart. George, we love you, and hope you know we are here for you if you need some extra hugs or any help at all with anything. Love, Pat and Rich

Jean (and George) were very instrumental in reviewing several books for our first hospital Gems of Hope libraries. As Sheila Harman's recruits, I had the fortune of meeting Jean on several occasions. What a vibrant and enthusiastic woman. She will be missed. Thinking of you. Beth Hammell

I always enjoyed working with Jean at the preparation for Natures Noel at Indian Creek Nature Center. She was such a sweet lady and was always so friendly. She will be missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family.

Dear Sweet Jean - we will miss her. I knew Jean through the Hawkeye Area Grand Gaelic Society (H.A.G.G.I.S.), the Scottish club in Cedar Rapids. She and George were long-time members and faithful volunteers for our events. She never failed to be cheerful and friendly to all. We are thinking of you, George and family, at this very sad time. A great lady!

Patti and family: Please accept our condolences on your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this difficult time. We hope that comfort and peace come to you. We know she will truly be missed. May God bless all of you. Jim and Carol Voss

Dave, Patti, and family - we are aching for you as you go through such a very sad time. Jean's obituary was wonderful and made us feel as if we knew her very well. What a loss for the community on top of the much larger loss for all of you. Our deepest sympathy to everyone.

I was saddened to learn of Jean's death. She and George were immensely helpful to the birth and growth of the Indian Creek Nature Center and I had the good fortune to work with these superb volunteers for many years. Jean was always enthusiastic, fun, and efficient. Her assistance enabled many children to enjoy the outstanding learning opportunites nature offers. Jean and I also share a Danish heritage that I only learned after knowing her for many years. Thanks to Jean and Goerge thousands of children enjoyed the Nature Center. Rich

My condolences to Mrs. Ross family. She was one of my instructors in nursing school at St. Luke's back in the 1950's. She was a great teacher and a friend. We corresponded for many years at Christmas time. I know she will be missed by her family and friends.
