Ethel G. Deck, 88, of Cedar Rapids died Saturday December 23, 2017 at Living Center West. Services at 11:00 AM on Friday at Zion Lutheran Church in Hiawatha. Rev. Daniel Krueger will officiate. Burial at the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 7 PM on Thursday.
Survivors include her daughter Lynn (Dave) Anders of Cedar Falls; a sister Barbara Burreson of Waterloo; granddaughter Brooke Lawrence of Waterloo, a grandson Matthew Anders of Wichita, Kansas; a great grandson Bradyn Lawrence of Waterloo; and several dear nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Walter, three brothers and one sister.
Ethel was born on March 25, 1929 in Decorah the daughter of Melvin and Mabel Blekeberg Lien. She married Walter W. Deck on March 29, 1947 in Decorah. Walter passed away in 1989.
Ethel worked in assembly at Rockwell-Collins and retired from there after more than 32 years of service. She was a member of IBEW and a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church where she was active in their Alter Guild.
Ethel enjoyed crocheting, crafts, and going to garage sales and the casino. Her greatest joy however, was the time spent with her beloved family and many many friends. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
