Gordon LeRoy Johnson, 83, of Cedar Rapids, went to be with the Lord Sunday, January 3, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. Funeral Service: 11:00 am Thursday, January 7, 2015 at First Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. A visitation will be held from 5-7 pm Wednesday, January 6, 2015 at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Gordon was born February 20, 1932, the son of Elias and Gerty (Risdal) Johnson in Newhall, IA. He was united into marriage with Betty McDaniel on September 29, 1950. She passed away in 1989. Gordon worked as an inspector for Rockwell Collins. He greatly enjoyed the outdoors and spending time on his pontoon on Lake McBride. Gordon enjoyed trips to Sarasota, Florida, where he was involved with multiple actives. He also earned the position of “Skip” in lawn bowling. Gordon would spend his Friday afternoons playing pool with his buddies from Rockwell. He was a member of First Lutheran Church. Gordon loved spending time with his family and friends and will be greatly missed. 

Survivors include his children, Dianna Rawson of Cedar Rapids, Diane (John) Walsh of Marion, Terry (Paula Kay) of Fairfax; grandchildren, Sheri (Todd) Gralund, Brian Rawson, Kevin (Denise) Rawson, Teri (Chad) Edmonds, Chris (Amy) Rawson, Brad (Melissa) Walsh, Rodger Walsh, Matthew (Maria) Johnson, Michelle (Jake) Smithhart, Andrew Johnson, Joshua Johnson; great-grandchildren, B.J. (Nate), Bailey, Alyssa, Calley, Kaiya, Cody, Courtney, Caitlyn, Cameron, Shannon, Tyler, Savanah, Hunter, Hannah, Mya, Kory, Nicole, Noah, Abram, Shea, Cael, Colton; great-great-grandchildren, Tallan, Aubree, Tucker, Kadence, Garette, Kamdyn; brother, Carter Johnson; sister, Doris Smith; and several nieces and nephews. 
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; brothers, Kenneth, Marion, Bill; sister, Eddie; son-in-law, Gary Rawson; and special friend, Ruth Clark.
