Memorial
George A. Krug Sr., 98 of Cedar Rapids died Sunday December 18, 2016 at his home. Services with military rites at 1:00 PM on Thursday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 7 PM on Wednesday.
Survivors include a son Kevin (Barb) of Swisher and two daughters Pamm (Dick) Ruhberg of Cedar Rapids, and Sheryl (Dennis) Dunston of Woodland, California. He is also survived by four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, a son George Jr. and a brother Elward.
George was born on July 12, 1918 in Benton County the son of John and Carrie Hein Krug. He married Betty A. Knipp on June 1, 1947 in East Dubuque, Illinois. Betty passed away in 2009.
George was the owner and operator of Krug Carb and Ignition for over 25 years. He later retired from F.M.C. as an assembler. George was a member of the Fairfax American Legion Pekomy Post No. 572 and proudly served in the Army during WWII. He was a pilot and flight instructor at Hunter Airport for several years. He enjoyed gardening, farming, and especially the time spent with his beloved family and friends. His memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
