Arnold Russell Mitchell, 74, of Davenport, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, December 8, 2016 at Clarissa Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf. A Celebration of Life will be held from 2-5 pm Friday, December 16, 2016 at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home.
Arnold was born February 24, 1942 the son of Howard and Mary (Mason) Mitchell in Palo. He graduated in 1961 from Central City High School. Arnold then served in the United States Army from 1964 to 1966. On November 14, 1965, he was married to Cathy Ann Eriks. Arnold worked as a machinist at Cherry Burrell and Goss in Cedar Rapids. He also drove for Hawkeye Movers, Davenport before retiring.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-one years, Cathy Mitchell; two daughters, Veronica (Anthony) Hartzler, Sheri (Todd) Heber; eight grandchildren, Melissa (Grayson) Dearing, Steven Hartzler, Matthew Hartzler, Joseph Hartzler, Ysette Hartzler, Alex Hartzler, Tim Heber, Amy Heber; four siblings, E. Lee (Bev) Mitchell, Verna Dodson, Ron (Carol) Mitchell, and Ken LeVelle.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Benny Mitchell; and step-father, Leonard LeVelle.
