Maxine M. Patton, age 98, of Marion, Iowa, died Sunday, November 1, 2015 at her residence at Summit Pointe surrounded in prayer by family and friends.
A celebration of her life will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, November 21, 2015 at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories officiated by Pastor Mike Morgan. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the celebration at the chapel. Maxine’s body has been donated to the University of Iowa. An inurnment will take place at a later date at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Maxine was born May 3, 1917 in Cedar Rapids to Harry and Mabel (Gorton) Kepler. She graduated from Grant High School with the class of 1935. On May 15, 1939 she married Kenneth P. Patton in Northwood, Iowa. To this union, two sons were born.
Maxine had been a resident of Marion since 1969. She was a member of the Marion First United Methodist Church, where she was active in the Wednesday Study Club for many years. She enjoyed playing cards and loved the outdoors, especially gardening, flowers, and bird-watching.
She is survived by her sons Terry L. (Mary) Patton of St. Paul, Minnesota and K. Donald (Janice) Patton of Algona; six grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; sister Dorothy Williams and brother-in-law Don Willmott, both of Cedar Rapids; as well as many special friends and family members who will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of fifty-eight years, Kenneth; sister Loretta Willmott; and brothers-in-law Don Williams and Dale Patton.
Memorial donations may be made to Camp Courageous or the Marion First United Methodist Church.
