Zelma P. O’Neal, a resident of the Solon Care Center died there on Tuesday February 3, 2015. Services at 11:00 AM on Friday at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 7 PM on Thursday (Today).
Survivors include a daughter Susanne O’Neal, a son Larry and a daughter-in-law Jackie O’Neal all of Cedar Rapids. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and several great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Howard, three sons, Richard, Keith, Randall, three brothers, six sisters and one grandson.
Zelma was born on November 4, 1916 in Mercer County, Missouri, the daughter of Calvin and Mary Landis Longfellow. She married Howard O’Neal on May 22, 1933 in Missouri. Howard passed away in 1989.
Zelma worked in sales at Armstrong’s Dept. Store for over 13 years retiring in 1981. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, going out to eat, especially to the Amanas. Her greatest joy however was the time spent with friends and her beloved family. Zelma’s memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her. She will be greatly missed.
