Dale D. Griffith, 88, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, November 1, 2014 at the Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha.

Services: 11:00 am Saturday, November 8, 2014 at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. Dave Higdon officiating. Entombment with military rites at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour before the service on Saturday at the funeral home.  

Survivors include his daughter, Deanna (Mike) Kroemer of Blairstown; sons, Jack (Barb) of Sheridan, Wyoming, Gary (Nancy) of Solon and Scott of Cedar Rapids. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Arlene in 2010, and a brother Richard. 

Dale was born March 15, 1926 in Monticello, the son of Clarence and Rebecca (Appleby) Griffith. He was a veteran of World War II serving overseas in the U.S. Army. On December 21, 1944 he married Arlene M. Lubben in Cedar Rapids. Dale worked as a foreman at Wilson Foods until he retired in 1985 after many years of service.  He was a member of the V.F.W. Post #788 and the American Legion. Dale enjoyed bowling and traveling, especially to Hawaii, Las Vegas and spending weekends at his cabin on Lake Delhi.  He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeye fan.  He will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him.
