On March 16, 2014, at the age of 77, Ardyce Arlene (Schake) Subra of Marion, Iowa, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior. She was born July 29, 1936 to Walter and Birdelle (Porter) Schake near Bellingham, Minnesota.
She attended Waterloo East High School and Miltonvale Wesleyan High School, where she graduated in 1954. She also attended Miltonvale Wesleyan College in Miltonvale, Kansas (now Oklahoma Wesleyan University).
On September 13, 1958, Ardyce married Glen Robert Subra at First Wesleyan Methodist Church in Waterloo, Iowa. Over the years she and Glen lived in Waterloo, Fairfield, Ft. Huachuca (Arizona), Fort Dodge, Cedar Rapids, and Marion.
Ardyce was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter (Sandra Jeanette Subra), and brothers Warren Schake, James Schake, and Derryl Schake.
She is survived by her husband Glen, her brother Dale Schake (Dona) of Dundee, and sisters Marlyn Subra of West Union and Darla Stoppelmoor (Rudy) of Roberts, Wisconsin.
She also leaves behind four children: Jeff Subra (Cherie) of Schroon Lake, New York; Kevin Subra (Jane) of Des Moines; Kurt Subra (Jenny) of Polk City; and Renee Krepfle of Marion.
She is also survived by twenty five grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
She enjoyed shopping, reading, shopping, traveling, shopping, and visiting with her family and friends, and shopping.
Ardyce’s faith in her Lord and Savior was her foundation. She and Glen enjoyed attending and serving at their church, Blair Ridge Baptist Church of Cedar Rapids. Though we will all miss her, we are so happy for her new home.
Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 PM on Thursday, March 20. Ardyce’s memorial service is scheduled for 11 AM on Friday, March 21. Both events will be held at Friendship Baptist Church, 700 Boyson Road NE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52402. Burial will be at Cedar Memorial.
