John Clarence Morris, 84, a resident of The Meth-Wick Community in Cedar Rapids, Iowa formerly of the Toddville area, died June 20, 2014 at his home. Memorial services will be at the Toddville Free Methodist Church on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at 11 AM with a visitation beginning at 10 AM. The Reverends Mark Lofquist and Douglas Morris will officiate. Inurnment for John and Jane Morris will be held at Dunkard Cemetery, Toddville, Iowa with Military Honors. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include a sister, Betty M. Holsinger of Toddville; three brothers, Nelson J. Morris of Pearland, TX; Allen D. (Janet) Morris of Central City; and Kenneth J. (Linda) Morris of Hiawatha; and a sister-in-law, Edith “Dottie” Morris of Fairfax. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane on March 16, 2010; parents; a brother Lyle Morris; a brother-in-law, Robert O. Holsinger, and a sister-in-law Terry Morris.
John was born October 13, 1929 near Troy Mills, Iowa. The son of Clarence O. and Ila M. (Nelson) Morris. He married Jane P. Margretz on July 19, 1953, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. He was a member of the Toddville Free Methodist Church, Toddville, Iowa.
John graduated from Toddville School in 1948, was employed by Quaker Oats Co., presently the Pepsico Co., in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, for 32 ½ years as a miller retiring in 1986. He also served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
John enjoyed gardening, fishing, and hunting, especially mushrooms. He was a very devoted husband to his wife, Jane, who had Muscular Dystrophy.
