Don was a really neat person who told very interesting tales of his life. I really enjoyed getting to know him. He will be greatly missed by all of us both in Indy and on the East Coast.

I had the pleasure of working with Don and his artists many times when I was with the AFSATCOM program in Cedar Rapids. One small project came back to me in a rather peculiar manner but was still acceptable. Later, Don shared with me the background of the piece and life rolled on. Later, experiencing a similar work issue in my department I contacted Don for advice. He pointed me in a whole different direction of thought which was very helpful in solving the problem. I have never forgotten the help and enjoyment he provided me as a co-worker and personal friend.
My thought and prayers are with his family

My heart goes out to dear Jan and the McBain/Gorman clan (Don would have approved my use of that word, clan). Don took me under his wing when I started at Rockwell Collins and showed me innumerable kindnesses. I admired his calm, unflappable demeanor and his steady strength. He and Jan beautifully complemented one another, and I was so happy for them to have found love again. I'm grateful to God for all the years He gave them together. I will always remember Don. I played "Scotland the Brave" in the car this morning in honor of Don, and offered a prayer of thanks for his life.

Saturday, Feb. 1st, 2014 was a very sad day for mine, the Gorman's and the McBain families lives. We lost another family member to cancer, this morning (Feb. 1, 2014). Donald McBain III., who married my mother back in 1995, (my father died in 1993) died this morning after a battle with cancer. He was the second family member, that have we lost to cancer, in the space of a year. Don was a very good man, who took good care of both his family, and his new family, my mom's. He was one of the finest men, that I have ever had the privledge of knowing! I am so appreciative of him for everything he did for my mom, and myself. He leaves a great legacy, and the entire Gorman family along with the McBain/McNall families will miss him dearly. He also leaves behind a daughter Caroline, and a son Donald jr. who we all care about very much too.
Rest in Peace Don!!!

We had the pleasure of meeting Donald on two occasions, one of which was at his son's wedding. They both looked so dapper in their Scottish attire!
Love to all of the McBain family,

Dear McBain Family,
Don and I worked together on a a project at Christ Church. The addition had been built but we needed a way to display posters and photographs in the narthex. He designed two three-sided attractive display pieces. They were wheeled and could be easily rotated to display a particular side or rolled in to a closet if the space was needed for another purpose. He was thorough and a good listener. I enjoyed working with him. I am sorry for your loss. I hope dear memories will help your cherish his memory.
Sincerely,
Kate Rose
