DaVon Jay Bean, 17, of Cedar Rapids passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2013. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Pius X Catholic Church by the Rev. Phil Thompson. Interment will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.DaVon is survived by his parents, Jesse and Deanna Bean of Cedar Rapids; brother, Jamison Bean, at home; grandmother, Jean-Marie Perez of Cedar Rapids; grandparents, Bruce and Deb Ogden of Marion; grandfather, Craig Bean of Washington; aunts and uncles, Tony Perez, Joe and Lindsey Bean, Chris Eby, Craig Jr. and Marsha Bean and Christopher Hohmann; great grandmothers, Mary Kalisch and Judith O'Neil; and many cousins and great aunts and uncles. Also surviving is his best friend, Mitchell Kuipers. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Nelson Perez and great grandfathers, John O'Neil and Bertram Kalisch.DaVon was born February 15, 1996 in Cedar Rapids. He attended Kennedy High School. DaVon liked fishing, card and board games, X games, building and riding BMX bikes, watching scary movies, listening to and writing music. He was an excellent artist and loved to write poetry. He was involved in Cougar baseball, Metro football and soccer. DaVon was very caring and compassionate towards his brother and cousins. They all looked up to him and loved his company. DaVon lit up the room when he smiled. He was always willing to help anyone in need. He loved all animals including his cat, Mac. He especially enjoyed the times he spent with Dallas. Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
